Come and join the Monroe Historical Society on November 2, 2024 for a look at ski resorts from our area. Local historians will share the history of resorts like Steven’s Pass and long forgotten ski areas like Mt. Pilchuck and Yodlin. The presentation starts a 2 pm at the Monroe Library. We hope to see you all there.

The Haji Family Memorial Scholarship was presented to Madison Smith this year. Madison’s family has been living in the Monroe area for several generations and Madison has a deep interest in history. Congratulations Madison!!!

The Monroe Historical Society is proud to offer this annual scholarship to a graduating Monroe High School senior each year, thanks to a generous endowment from 1940 Monroe High School valedictorian Hiroko Haji. Join us on Saturday March 18th, 2023 for our Monroe Historical Society presentation titled Steamboats on the Snoqualmie. Local authors Steven Barker and Jack Russell will share the history and importance of steamboats on local rivers. Their new book “Steamboats on the Snoqualmie” was recently released and is the basis for their presentation. Please join us at 1:00 pm for the membership meeting. Mr. Barker and Mr. Russell will begin speaking at 1:30 pm. Followed by a Q & A session. All ages are welcome. We hope to see you at the Monroe Library.
The public, and especially members, are invited to attend an upcoming meeting and open house at the Monroe Historical Museum on Sunday, March 27, 2022. A short business meeting to elect trustees and review Society matters at 1:00 pm will be followed by an open house and tours of the old library space which is being renovated upstairs. The open house and tours will run until 3:00 pm. The museum is located at 207 E. Main St., Monroe, WA.
